Labor day Monday we decided to take a trip into the city together as a family.
We spent the majority of the day visiting the Museum of Natural History (a favorite of John).
In the past John makes it a point to visit the gemstones and my required exhibit is the Ocean Life exhibit.
Oliver's favorite aspect of the visit was to touch the hands-on exhibits. And although he is still quite young he still seemed to enjoy all that there was to see - he even made it through five hours of museum time without falling asleep!
We took a lunch break at the Shake Shack where Oliver was able to have a bit of peach pie custard!
As you can see in the photo above - it got an A+ in his book.
Later that evening after a jaunt around Central Park we headed down to Chinatown to Shanghai Joe's.
Oliver was still in good spirits, however it probably would have been best to head home.
Unfortunately moderation is something I still have yet to learn.
We waited in the rain for half an hour to get a table and ended up sharing a round table with another friendly group. We met Lauren (a grade school teacher) who was absolutely infatuated with Oliver. So much so that she asked to take his picture (odd as it is, this tends to happen quite frequently). Just to confirm with me that she meant no harm, she offered to email me the picture she had taken.
Once a home we all crashed and had good nights rest.
