- While chatting on Gmail John said that he could hear Oliver in his crib laughing instead of taking his morning nap.
- Daddy took Oliver on his first zoo trip yesterday to the Staten Island Zoo. There was momentary hail and sleet, but baby was still able to enjoy himself. The zoo even has a red panda, however Oliver's favorite exhibit was the reptile display. I hope I don't have a future toddler that begs me for a pet snake!
- Reading "The Best American Short Stories" from 1997 on my commute. Most are overly politicized in content, and not in a thought-provoking way. However I did enjoy "From Willow Temple" written by Donald Hill, published in the Atlantic Monthly.
- Felt ill on Monday on the train. Looked up to see that someone else did too and left their SOS all over the window.
- Construction on the 2nd Avenue subway line continues. Heard a fog horn and the following explosion underground. I find it fascinating that they are able to ignite an explosion under Manhattan and everyone can go about their daily business without any encumbrance. As I was telling my Dad about the large relocatables they use for the construction and the large air ducts that must be used to keep the air clean he reminded me that Manhattan is one big rock.
- Mentally note, as I do each time I walk pass Neil's Coffee shop, to no longer visit as one morning I walked by the back door and a server kicked a cockroach right at my feet. Why not kill the thing??
- Saw the window dressings inside the all-girl prep school and felt wistful - tall, thick, heavy white material with gold embroidery and tassels.
- New York School of Interior design has a lovely herringbone stone side walk, that is immaculately clean. It makes me feel like Dorothy on the yellow brick road.
- Can't wait until I can be home with Oliver!
